1963 At Midnight Ill Take Your Soul DVD Coffin Joe New
At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul (original title: À Meia-Noite Levarei Sua Alma) is a 1964 Brazilian horror film, by filmmaker/actor José Mojica Marins. Marins is also known by his alter ego Coffin Joe (Zé do Caixão). The film is the first installment of Marins' "Coffin Joe trilogy", and is followed by This Night I Will Possess Your Corpse (1967), and Embodiment of Evil (2008). At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul is considered to be Brazil's first horror film, and it marks the first appearance of Marins' character Coffin Joe. Coffin Joe is a loose translation of Zé do Caixão. Based on a nightmare the director/protagonist suffered during a time of illness and depression, the script for the film was written by Marins, who also played the lead role of Coffin Joe after the actor originally assigned the role failed to show up for filming.
